WestBrom Story- Season 3- Opening Match of the Season

Hello FMAddicteds,

After a good preperation period, we were ready for the third season and we have wellcomed our fans first at the Community Shield match against Manchester City. To be honest, I did not expect a victory against Manchester City at least not yet :)

Indeed, stats show everything clearly. ManCity was the dominant side on the field but one statistics made me think: shoots on target is only 1/11 for us. This ratio is really annoying. 

Season 3- First Match: WestBrom - Arsenal

We wellcomed our fans at the Hawthorns. Fans were eager to see the new transfers on action and indeed, this first match was also the first experience for my new tactic.

To be honest, none of us had expected this result but nobody complaint too :)

First match was against Arsenal and at first I was in dilemma if I should have started with my new tactic or more defensive tactic but then I decided to go on with my new tactic. I believed in my home and fans. of course we could lose but this is football and any team can beat others.  At first match, we proved this.

I have prefered David Ospina rather than Sinan Bolat. At defensive line, I have chosen Dodo, Vertonghen, Burdisso and Mallo. In next matches, I will keep Burdisso and Vertonghen but most probably, I will try Alexander Simon and Vedran Corluka. 

I prefered Mulumbu and Graham Dorrans at midfield. Graham was man of the match with 1 goal and 2 assists.  Adam Johnson was not ready for this match and I have prefered my new transfer, John Fleck. Fleck was one of the shining star in the field. He fought very well at attacking lines.

Jordan Ajew and Shane Long were my killer attackers. 

And now here is the result :

 We had 7 shoots on target and 4 of them were goals.. This is a good ratio :)

Another good news for us was the scorers.. My two midfielders found 2 goals. Another two goals came from my new transfers: Vertonghen and Jordan Ajew. These goals should boost my new players' confidience. Vertonghen found the goal from corner at the near front with a good head shoot. He will find more goals from corner kicks.

To make a quick evaluation, we were lucky and the early bath for Robin Van Persie at 27th minute was the main factor that turned the game on behalf of us. By the way, Arsenal knocked 3 injuries during the match and they were also unlucky with these injuries. 

Now lets take a look at this magnificent glory's highlights:

After this first match, there was a booming in confidence at The Hawthorns. We were so happy  and eager to go to the Black Country Derby against Wolves.

Black Country Derby is one of the most important match for us and it would be a perfect move if we could win. I believed in my captain Graham Dorrans and  I hoped he could contributes as he should have.


We started as 4-2-4 but we could not find goals at some positions. The first half ended 0-0 but at the second half, Wolves started to increase the pressure and what a shame that at these minutes, Burdisso was injured and I had to change him. Just after only 3 minutes this change, Wolves found the first goal.  What a pity,   they have found second goal next 10 minutes.

After we had fell back 2-0, I have changed the mentality from attacking to overload and at the end of the match, it was a great come back for WestBrom. Thanks to my captain Dorrans and Shane Long. Graham Dorrans was again the man of the match. Dorrans is really high calibre player.

This comeback showed that we will give really pain to the opponents and we will never give up until the last blow.  See this great comeback
