Southampton Story- Season 1- Winter Transfers

Back again... The winter came and this is one of my most favorite period in football manager..Because winter means free transfers and I am good at capturing free high calibre players. So again, i will go to market and see whats best for Southampton.

Because of a perfect first half of the season, the board asked me if I want to change the expectations. I see the bluff and changed the expectations I declared at preseason. I have increased the expectations and declared that we will succeed to go to Europa Cup. This change increased my transfer budget and it was the only thing I need.

Now lets do not waste time and continue on transfer news. 

In summer transfer period, I could not achieve to add solid defenders except Marco Torsiglieri so in winter period, I paid my attention to defense. First of all, I searched free transfers and I have found one of the best defenders, Salvatore Bocchetti. My scout's report states Bocchetti as an important player for the team I should decide to sign. The best point of this transfer is being free transfer. Bocchetti is receiving €800K per year at Italy. He asked me €1.8M per year but I have offered him €2.2M. Because Chelsea and Tottenham also offered him contract. 

 Although I have offered a better contract than Bocchetti's expectations, he accepted Chelsea's offer. This was a big disappointment for me. I wonder what amount he was offered. We will see the amount at 1st of July. 

Bocchetti was my transfer target and I missed him. So i have changed my target to another one.. I am again at Italy market and this time I am working on Munoz's transfer.

Munoz is very young and has a potential to be a hard rock at the heart of the defense. There is only one issue:  Transfer fee..

We have spent most of the cheques at summer period. My wage budget was nearly full. So again I had to rescue from some of my wage loads. The first candidate was Asier Del Horno. Because he could not use his chances very well and his yearly wage is €900K. On the other hand, it will be easier for me to   sell him because of variety in my left back options. Besides, I have a new young talent from Brazil, Emerson.. He is a 4.5 star young talent and I hope with a good training he can turn to a wonderkid. 

Emerson will be a good sub for Danny Fox and Jonathan Parr. I have added Emerson to Soton with minimum fee money €2M. Otherwise it was impossible to grab him to only €2M. 

I have offered €4M for Ezequiel Munoz but Palermo insisted on €8M finally we could finalize €7M at one payment. This was why I had to sell some of the players not only for transfer fee but also to increase the wage budget. So that I would be able to adjust my budget. 

I have sold Asier Del Horno, Frazer Richardson, Richard Chaplow and sent Lee Bernard, Ryan Dickson, Ben Reeves on loan.

After all these sell outs, I could make €5M but it was not enough so I have adjusted the budget again and I could take Munoz to St. Mary's.

After I have emptied the bank, I also added Edgar Ie and Jorge Pulido as loan to my defensive line. Edgar Ie is one of the biggest wonderkid candidates.

Although I have strengthened the defensive line, now I am a bit concerned about the team harmony. If we can continue on good display at the pitch, we will see the Euro Cup at least... Better position ? It would be a perfect start at Southampton but to be honest I do not think that the lady luck will stay with me till the end..
