For a long time, I see some posts and questions in facebook about how to create your individual backgrounds at FM 12. After some try -n- sees, some searches, I am happy that I have some answers and would like to share with you too.
To be honest, I do not like pictures at background. Most of the pictures makes the writings unreadable so I prefer more clear backgrounds. But it is up to you, so maybe you like to see pictures at the background.
If you are managin a team in English Premier League, then you are lucky because I found a ready background pack for you.
Clik here to download the EPL Background pack for the season 2011-2012
(thanks to http://forum.fm-view.com)
You will extract the file to C:\Users\KULLANICI ADI\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2012\graphics\pictures\backgrounds. If Graphics folder does not have pictures and backgrounds folder, then just create them.
Up to now, I have talked about how to put a ready background pack in use. From now on, it is about what you want to create. For example, maybe you want to see Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo at your background, then dont stop.. Go go go.. It is easy. Just keep reading :)
In the folder you have downloaded you will see a config.xml file. It is the key to create your own backgrounds. You will use this config.xml file and after a few arrangements, your own backgrounds are ready. The logic behind is very easy indeed. All screens, applets have a unique ID. You will map a picture with the unique id that you wanna see picture on the background. To be able to do this, you need to know the IDs for the players, teams etc.
The easiest way to learn this looks at a little change: go to Preferences- Display&Sound- Show Unique IDs. click on it and click on Confirm. It is OK. Now you should be seeing a number next to the name of the team or player.
For example, Messi's ID is 7458500. Lets create a sample one with Messi.
First of all, I will google a high resolution Messi picture and download it. Then, I will put this picture to the same location with the config.xml file. As a last step, I will add one row to the config.xml file.
By the way, you can remove the click on "Show Unique IDs" after you learn what you want to know.
After you make the addition to the config.xml file, go to game and check Messi's profile. One of the important point is the resolution of the picture. I prefer 1200*800 or 1920*1200. So pay attention to this.
After you made all arrangments but still you do not see the backgrounds, then maybe it is time to clean the cache file. Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\KULLANICI ADI\Application Data\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2012\cache" and delete "cache" folder. Application data folder is hidden file so at first make the folder visible.
If you are not happy with the skin and background convenience, then you should try with different skins.
You know where to find all FM 2012 Skins ;) Just click here
