Hello FMAddicteds,
After an exciting first season now we are making some adjustments for a better season. The most important adjustment is of course transfers. We had some areas to strengthen such as goalie, left back, right back, midfield but the transfer market was full of surprises.
After an overachieving season, the board showed their satisfaction with the transfer budget.
€18 M transfer budget is quite adequate budget for a club at Southampton position and I also did my best with this budget.
Besides, if you perform more than the expectations during a season, the next expectations may have tendency to increase but I like challange and I always shift the expectations. So while the board was expecting a top half finish, I have pulled the bar to Euro Cup Qualifications.
Now lets take a look at the best side of the summer... Transfer period :)

The most important transfers of the season for St. Mary's were the free ones. We have acquired two very important player: David Ospina and Vladimir Weiss.
David Ospina is not the first but one of my favourite goalies. In my previous story with West Bromwich Albion, my first option was Mark Andre Ter Stegen but in this version, it seems impossible to convince him for Southampton. By the way, Ospina was a free transfer so it is one the best move in the market for us. Because, Artur Boruc, my first goalie, is getting older and he can play 2 years at most. So I need a good replacement for him.
Another best free transfer is Weiss...Indeed, Weiss was not at my plans but he took my attention while I am in search for attacking positions and I am very happy to catch him. Because, I am sure one hundred percent that he will be one of the key figures in club.
Look at his attributes, who does not want to see such a player at his squad ? I was giving place at AMR to Emmanuel Mayuka, Jason Puncheon but after Weiss arrival, I am sure that he will not give the shirt to anybody.
In football manager stories, every manager has some key players and never gives up from these players. I am sure that you also have some of them. Now it is time to telling mine.. He is Guillermo Burdisso.
He is my number 1 defender at my last three FM stories. He never let me down and I am sure that he will be rock at the heart of the defense with Ezequiel Munoz. I have paid €8M to Boca but it is not really much for a player at this quality. I hope I can keep in the squad for a long time but Premier League will notice his quality at his early days at St.Mary's.. Difficult days will be waiting for me.
